You have an incident "XX-1"
Is it supposed to be like that?
Posting here for clarity, as this discussion dragged the post down too long.
The image was indeed taken from the Avengers TV show which is under All Rights Reserved, and thus is not compliant with the wiki's CC 3.0 license. It has since been removed.
I'm on mobile right now, so I can't use google image reverse search to verify the source. I do know that all images from Getty Images require payment for usage as a stock photo site, and that they have a tendency to file random lawsuits. Even if its images may be floating everywhere around the web, we really can't afford to get sued.
Crediting an image to a TV screenshot is a) very useful in terms of allowing provenance to be tracked, and b) completely useless in terms of exempting it from copyright. It's from The Avengers? Then it's property of Bertelsmann. And much as we don't want to attract the wrath of Getty Images, we even less want to attract the attention of Bertelsmann.
wow, I love how the first image sometimes changes.
this is a really great concept and is very subtly creepy. At first I didn't agree with the Keter class since it is not actually dangerous but after I thought about it a little more it makes sense.
Interesting mention of Brad Pitt. Is that some kind of reference to or joke about something in Brad Pitt's history that I don't know about?
I'm not sure about the Brad Pitt part. I feel like you could redact the name and keep the dates in and it would be more effective. As it stands, it comes off like this was meant to poke fun at him for reasons I'm not aware of.
The Brad Pitt reference really threw me off, as well. I would have expected the name to be black boxed in an SCP article. It would also make the article more timeless, as you can put any actors name in there (even when Brad Pitt is no longer in the game). The reader can use their imagination to pick an actor that fits those qualities.
I'm definitely on board with this idea, but third the Pitt mention breaking suspension of disbelief. Consider redacting it?
I removed Brad Pitt in favor of another "The Wire" refrence
Very nice. I enjoy how this showcases that the definition of "Keter" is about containability rather than any danger involved, I find the idea behind the article compelling, and not the least, experiencing "Tussaud syndrome" would creep the hell out of me.
Enthusiastic upvote.
Very creepy. Just one thing though:
"All photo/video footage of the actor depicted a non-anomalous ███████ █. ████████"
This breaks the flow a bit, and the use of "a" implies that there are multiple non-anomalous ███████ █. ████████.
Um, Am I missing something? What is happening here?
Random people who appear on video tapes or photographs are suddenly showing up in those videos/photos as ventriloquist dummy-versions of themselves. Nothing happens to the actual person, and the length of time that they appear as a dummy is completely at random. It affects every piece of video or photograph the person has been in at any point in their lives. For every person affected (except Tobritza Pemberton) this effect suddenly ceases after a certain period of time.
+1 because of concept and good execution, though this is one of those SCPs, like SCP-2137, where I question the Foundation's ability to realistically contain public knowledge of it.
