What’s this forum for?
Asking questions! If you’d like to ask about any of the following things, you’re in the right place:
- sandbox woes (can’t find your page? Are collapsibles not showing up? Something else on the sandbox giving you grief?)
- chat woes (having an issue figuring out how to access chat? Wondering about specific chat etiquette not covered in the chat guide?)
- wikidot coding (want to know how to make colored text, insert a bunch of images, or something else?)
- writing research (writing something about the social patterns of sharks or some other topic and want to double-check your facts or ask for recommended research reading?)
- SCP approach (want to make sure you’re portraying the Foundation right in your idea? Not sure what kind of dialogue to write for personnel logs?)
- SCP questions (want to try something new? Want an example of a sad SCP, a strange SCP, a glad SCP? Want to try to emulate a certain kind of SCP or ask about how to write an SCP that evokes a certain emotion?)
- general writing help (not sure how to write in clinical tone? Wondering how to write a believable interview?)
Any tips and tricks for this place?
- What else should I keep in mind while posting? The comprehensive Rules and Guidelines for this forum, written by Aelanna, can be found here. If you’re not familiar with the rules/expected behavior, read this before you post!
- Help! I don’t know if my question belongs here! No worries. Take a look at the titles of the other threads here, and if something you see sounds like what you want to post, go for it. A staff member will move your thread if you have the wrong forum.
- No one is posting on my thread!! Okay. Try going to the IRC chat if you really can’t wait for a reply. Otherwise, remember that people here have IRL lives and the forums move slow. If your thread starts to get buried, PM a staff member and ask for their help.
- Don’t bump threads! Bumping is spammy. Don’t spam. If no one is posting on your thread and you’re getting nervous, see the above point.
- Don't post uncollapsed images! Because images can be unwieldy (take time to load, too big for our mobile users' screens, etc.), please collapse any images you post. Collapsible coding can be found below:
General collapsible
[[collapsible]]
[[/collapsible]]
Customized collapsible (Note: you must use the generic quotes "" and NOT the directional quotes “” if you want the custom collapsible coding to work!)
[[collapsible show="text here" hide="text here"]]
[[/collapsible]]
And of course, if there are any other questions, feel free to post here or PM me (Zyn). Happy forum-ing!
