… okay.
Not enjoying it.
I mean, sorry! I didn't enjoy it! And I feel bad about it, because it's not badly written at all and, at points, it's actually a very tight piece. The problem with this is that a Tarasque-044 combo Kaiju is still not very interesting for me. Furthermore, why go "THIS DOCUMENT IS DAMAGED" when the documents from the non-German facility would have been moved back to Germany and thus would have been damaged as well? I mean, I do not get what making them damaged adds to the tale.
But… I must admit there is also an important negative bias for me here, in that I'm a bit tired of nazi science fiction. Indeed, this tale is a viable way to write about the Anherbe Obscurakorps, which would have made badass enemies of their contemporary enemies (Foundation, GRU-P, GOC founding organisations…), but I can't enjoy yet another piece of fiction where the nazis simply put a lot into one wacky school science project that, of course, either turns the war around or blows up in their little silly Kraut faces. I mean, real-world Third Reich Germany did have its moments of scientific insanity, but so did all other factions in WWII (Stalin and big tanks, anyone?). This specific trope is kinda irritating for me at this point, and it might be just me.
However, there is a proper buildup and good pacing in the letters (with the exception of the burnt sections). I'll re-read it once I've cooled the no-nazis-novelties-now-please feelings and re-check my posture. No vote til then, sorry.
