As far as the continued expansion of speculative urban sci-fi/fantasy fiction in the Foundation-verse, I can't help but be a little skeptical. Part of me resists this, because part of me can't help but see it as yet another step away from the more restrained approach to the universe that I prefer.
But… this is still stylish, fun, and — most importantly! — character-driven. Having read most of it already, I've had the pleasure of seeing your sense of restraint evolve; both in how you've finished it prior to posting, and in how you've refrained from allowing the spectacle to overshadow the characters. In short: It's a fun, wild story — one that ultimately cares more about its characters than its explosions.
(it still has plenty of explosions, though!)
I've said this already in chat, but I'll say it here, too: The amount of focus, creativity, and restraint on display here is something you should be proud of.
