So he misused Star Signals and rediscovered the First Church?
I like this a lot, except for the prudish stereotypically "square" and unprofessional interviewer. They should have sent an ethnologist (or Calixto Narváez). Don't know how to vote. :(
If it makes a difference, the interviewer was much more professional during the first six or seven interviews with the potential reality bender who goes off on tangents about his socks or dragons that live in parking meters every few sentences. Now they're just beating their head against the table trying to get him to focus for a few seconds and answer the questions they ask.
Hmmm… I'm on the fence about this one. The interview at the end makes me feel like it could easily be shortened and put into a -J. On the other hand, giant anomalous tacos speak to my inner Texan… and on yet another hand I sort of feel like the article is too verbose for what the item actually IS. The payoff feels a bit meh for how long it is…
No vote until one of those three hands pulls a gun on the other two and helps me make up my mind on this article.
That -j thing is sort of what makes this a nightmare for the foundation to deal with: It would be funny… if they didn't have to actually deal with the fact that they now have a patch of desert that is tacos. Which rains more tacos if you try to get rid of it.
I get that, and I love the fact that it's a situation best characterized by the phrase "And what fresh hell is this?" without being a cliche in any way. The main issue is I can't stop imagining Shaggy Rogers from Scooby Doo discovering the Star Signals…
I fixed a couple of typos to save you the effort:
various diary products
and
Reconconstruction efforts
Locked diaries, pink diaries, digital diaries. All used for water in this tract of land.
And obviously, reconconstruction is a mix of reconstruction and reconnaissance.
…nice SCP, by the way. Love the Star Signals references.
Darn, thought I caught all of those. Fix much appreciated.
I feel like I've seen this kind of anomaly already. Also, the fifth footnote isn't something that really needs to be specified.
Went ahead and ditched that footnote.
Any particular one its reminding you of? (I ask because there are a couple that I think of as "cousins" of -3)
It breaks my heart that you felt the need to place a footnote to explain adobo.
But then again, I haven't had decent Mexican food since moving to the east coast. ("Would you like ranch or Italian on your tostada?")
Agreed. Now that's a Keter-level condiment breach.
I feel like… this would've been better if it had been more focused, and maybe if it had been tightened up and structured better. I feel like both of the collapsible charts might've been better if they were their own addenda or segment, and expanded upon more. The main article could be edited down to give the same information in less space, and get to the interview, which has a funny punchline. Just make it more obvious that it's giving some taco ingredients, in the flora, not too much more obvious, but structured in a way that a person going back after reading the punchline would be more easily able to go 'ooooh' and get the idea.
Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you!
This had my interest from early on, and it gradually got funnier and gradually made more sense… and then, with that last word, everything clicked and I laughed like a loon to my empty living room. Brilliant.
