SCP Foundation

This is my attempt at a Sarkicist SCP. I would like to thank all the people who had reviewed it, like psul and Amuness etc. Especially, I wish to thank Metaphysician for his openness to this concept which I have suggested.

Metaphysician pretty much did the skeleton of it (basic concept of the Vatula), although I'm the one who added the flesh to the piece and made it an SCP.

Is this a collaboration between you and Metaphysician? If so, Meta can not upvote. If this isn't the case, disregard this. I'm merely asking due to the second paragraph in your post. It's not too clear.

This is certainly interesting with worldbuilding, but the specific type of body horror you go for here is very worn out for me. I can't even be fazed because there's at least three different skips that go for this kind of body horror you go for here on the mainlist, and I just can't care. Maybe I'm tired of body horror in general as well; for it to really grab me in text form, it either has to be vividly described or, barring that (since that kind of thing is near-impossible in a clinical document), go all-out in its effects and imagery to boot (visuals or textual).

The journal at the end was particularly wearisome to go through. It help set up the history of the anomaly and did some more worldbuilding for the Sarkicists, but it wasn't entertaining and it was hard to keep my attention for it.

This is otherwise well-written and executed (even if it's not my thing), and the interviews were good to help make this more interesting. The image is also pretty good, though you should see if it falls under the CC Policy. I just can't get into this like the other articles of its kind, and it didn't elicit a reaction from me other than wanting to get through it.

I remember reviewing this. Liked it then, liked it now.

Upvoted, although for some reason the body horror didn't have the same impact as in the draft I read. More than made up for by the density of the rest of it - I particularly like how neatly 029 was woven in.

A few drafting points:

These SCP-2833 instances were previously ambushed by GOC operatives, wherein an SCP-2833 instance was terminated as a result.

I didn't understand this sentence. Were the 2833 instances ambushed before the Foundation found them (and how did the Foundation know either that it was the GOC or that one of the instances died)? And "wherein" doesn't seem correct - "whereby" is closer (although wouldn't require "as a result" at the end of the sentence), but I think "resulting in the death of an SCP-2833 instance" is probably better.

• "overran" should be "overrun"
• "the "Daughter of Shadow" survive the implantation ritual." should be "survived".

I'm always chuffed to see Indian SCPs on the wiki, and even though I've seen dozens of Shaivite and Vaishnavite sages, the overexposure on that photo makes it supremely creepy. That crosslink to SCP-029 is also damn good.

I like sarkcist SCPs in general but… somehow I am not feeling this one. The crosslink to 029 doesn't help because while it fits, I don't like 029 as it's just another old Foundation-style mary sue what kills you. Also as other posters said already, we had this type of body horror in many other skips.

Which parts of the article are referencing 2406? I think I may have missed it.

I receive far more of a helminthiasis vibe from these guys— a free-roaming phase, a larval phase (SCP-2833-A), and a parasitic, reproductive phase. If anything, that particular life cycle interests me more than any Sarkicist history.

But given its capapbilities, why reproduce only in women?

I didn't find this too interesting, though there's that word "Karcist" again. Description could use some cleanup, there are a lot of really convoluted phrases ("While initially believed to be an unique entity, it was disproved when four instances").

I am sad that the new image isn't nearly as cohesive with the other Karcist images as the old one.
