I’m a big fan of this. It’s so oldschool, and so succinct, it’s… just a tiny bottle of concentrated Foundation Fiction.
"We really fucked up good this time, didn't we?"
Holy shit you sure did.
It does straddle the line, but demotion to D-Class absolutely fits with this type of Tale and I’m willing to allow it. Hope it sticks, it’s lovely.
The idea is actually kinda cool, but I think it's too subtle. Perhaps with a little bit more to show that Clef and Kondraki are now D-class (perhaps after the trouble they have caused) via things like orange jumpsuits or someone yelling them to refer to each other by their D-class numbers etc.
Otherwise, it can be misinterpreted as the doctors themselves watching 173 due to budget cuts or some experiment.
Even that works, because D-Class are necessary. Though I can still clearly see its Kondraki and Clef, because "Konnie" was what Clef called Kondraki in several older Tales - which this obviously takes cues from. Duke Till Dawn is the big one here (which should be required reading, in my silly and not completely serious opinion).
I debated that? My original idea didn't have the last line of 'until the cleaning crew is done.' But I figured that was needed to show that they were d-class, and not just in an outbreak.

I always wondered how come none of the researchers ever got in trouble for all that mayhem.
+1 all day, any day
Probably should have been left on the discussion page of whichever one of those tales this article is about.

Funny, as the creator of SCP-J, I thought you'd appreciate the brevity. :)

Its a funny joke, sure, but as a tale I'd ideally like to see more.
While this is a good conceit, I feel that it falls down in the seventh act with the betra- What? That joke about extremely short works and pretending they're really long has been beaten into the ground? Goddammit. Fine.
I liked this.
