This is pretty cool, my only thing would be maybe explaining what constitutes a VK-Class scenario in a footnote or something. Nevertheless it was a very thorough explanation of an idea that presents a lot of opportunity to have fun with physics. +1

So this is my new scip. Yay. After an imperial fuckton of researching physics stuff, it's finally up. Of course, thanks to everyone that critted this for me (especially to Roget for giving me the idea for a possible plan to contain this thing). Hopefully you guys will be able to understand the physics!

Any relation to SCP-319, as it also uses a true (or at least truer) vacuum as well?

319 was in the back of my mind while reading through this, but it didn't have any real bearing on my enjoyment of it. The science seemed legit, the lunar setting was a great choice to increase the lonely, remote mood of the piece, and I was engaged throughout all the differing physics states. I haven't read 2417 yet, so I don't know how much of a difference that makes wrt to Addendum-2, but I hope to remedy that soon. +φ1!

because it's been set to deactivate whenever it gets to close to the earth

someone made it as a proof of concept, and did the sensible thing:

included a safety switch

Foundation has no idea, and is all frantically classifying it as Keter

but it's totally Safe

who made it: we will never know
why was it made: proof of concept
why on the moon: safety! You don't do shit like this on a planet where you live!

if it gets too close to Earth, it switches off

that's why it keeps subsiding

Reminds me a bit about false vacuum decay. Overall, I like this SCP, a bit confusing but good nonetheless.

This was really engaging from start to finish. The physics help lend a bit of credibility, and you do a fine job of establishing it as a doomsday-level skip even before diving into the addenda, which escalates the weird and creepy sevenfold. My favorite bit is definitely -2's actions in φ20, and the Foundation's reaction to it. Well worth the read, +1.

I genuinely tried to read through all this, but the dense physics exposition is like a cockslap of information that I wasn't all that compelled or interested in. The last bit at the end is the one bit that sort of drew me in, but the overall piece is too focussed on verisimilitude to sustain my interest and get me reading past the description. It feels like a weaker SCP-2460, without either the snappiness of its description or the gut-punch of its stinger.

This would be the plural, nebulae.

Other than those two things, this is perfect. I love this type of sci-fi and I love seeing it on the site.
