This is the discussion related to the wiki page Winding Down.
Imagine the whole earth turning into metal. Pretty much that.
That is, you could rather say that the earth is turning into a giant mass of gears in the story. It will take thousands of years, but life will die out long before then if there's enough metal instead of dirt.
Which doesn't make any -more- sense, to be sure, but 217 is connected with the Broken God and isn't a normal virus- and it's cooler this way. :p

This is a fascinating piece, and well-written. I like the portrayal of how the characters have been adapting to the new world. And it's quite poignant. +1
All in all a great tale,but here's a nitpick.
Copper and bronze content
Bronze is an alloy made mostly of copper. Maybe replace it with "Copper and tin content"?
UPD: Another nitpick. It's taiga outside in one place, and tundra in another. Since these are different biomes, some uniformity is necessary.
