Only 1? i mean don't get me wrong its really good, but only 1?
Really scary, but also very interesting evolution for these things.
I was confused what was happening with the creatures until I reread it now. I see the carnivorous plant-things domesticated the nest of hive-hand-mouths and feed them the fungus things as livestock feed.
I gotta wonder how life in the test chamber diverged. I'm not entirely sure what is what and if everything described as a plant or fungus is actually descended from one.
My first thought with plant-like predators was that they were actually lichen-esque chimerical collections of cells that became a complex animal-like creature. Maybe all of the organisms are, I dunno.
But that's probably just because I like lichen, it's pretty neat.
I (almost) wish this thing was real, science could learn so much by observing evolution with it. Wonder what effects different environments and starting organisms would have.
I don't think I'm breaking etiquette on this site by posting so late judging from other pagrs, but tell if I'm wrong here.
If this had more than one experiment I would be so happy.
I had to down vote. It was introduced as a link to the "complete research and experimentation notes", but that ended up being a let down. Not only did it have just one experiment, but all notes were redacted. Then you realize that there is nothing complete about it as another experiment is provided on the SCP page.
I think this would be better if you relocated the experiment from the SCP page to this page, then add some brief notes to give it a " complete " feel.
No vote.
As said by SketchParker above, it's greatly disappoint that complete research file only has single test as well as bad redacted without hint of what got removed.
On the other hand, that single test is very fun read. Thus no vote.
I would have liked more actual tests, like, stopping the tape earlier in the process a few times
While I do think more tests would have been better, the single one there (and the idea of a new species of animals and plants uniquely interacting with each other) to be good enough to be worth the +1.
my only complaint is that there is only one test log.
