A cheap shot, really. Still, it's something I get all the damn time, so I thought I'd share.
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
I had just heard a noise behind me and shrugged it off.
Maybe because they don't have any.
Perfect amount of detail.
That developed in us for a reason. Survival instincts are rarely wrong.
To the contrary; they're wrong all the time. It's simply that in the plains where we evolved, it was better to jump at shadows than to miss the lion sneaking up behind you.
Haha. Considering I'm essentially nocturnal these days, this hit me right where I sleep. Good one.
I feel it… kinda weak, the last sentence killed it for me.
I like it. As a single story, it's a temporary creep - "Oh, no eyes, primal fear, brr!" A good five-minute story that'll stay with you for another five minutes…
Then you realize, hours later in the dead of night, that something's watching you. And you think back to this story, and you swear under your breath in sheer horror at the revelation.
