The problem with mounting something like this on the rear deck of a ship is that if you come at something from DEAD AHEAD you are protected by the body of the ship. Of course, that might be why it's a derelict - minor design defect!
Isn't it obvious how to access it? Convert a couple of D-Class with SCP-217 and send 'em in.
Yes, I know it's a horrible idea. Unfortunately, it's not horrible enough to suggest adding. I just like the thought experiment.
I'm unsure about this one. I like it, and I was this close to upvoting it… but…
I like the idea of a derelict ship beached in the middle of a desert. But the only other thing to this is the magical vaporizer cannon. And while I like that it 'disappears' neural tissue instead of just vaporizing people, I don't know if it's interesting enough yet.
So: Neutral vote.
This, except it was uninteresting to the point where I downvoted it.
It's such a good setup and picture, though. It's a shame that this hasn't gotten the attention it deserves.
if your reading this your gay
The derelict ship section is written very well, and it's a great lead in. The apparent weapon is weak, and drags the article down. With a rewrite to either replace it outright, or make it more interesting, this could be a classic.
This, and there is too much unnecessary redaction.
woah woah woah did anyone notice the pattern of 'thing what is old and broken but never actually falls apart like, ever'?
That aside, this was not too bad. Needs more things though, like exploration logs. That'd be overused a little, but if you managed to do it well…
The city name you see painted on a ship is the ship's home port (i.e. the port it's based out of), which is not necessarily, or even often, the same city as where it's built.
This, to me is a good example of an SCP that could be pretty decent were it given a good re-write. The addition of cyrillic text and such a large field of effect is intriguing and engaging but a maybe slightly too zealous application of black boxes and [REDACTED]. If this were to be re-written and tightened up a touch, it'd most definitely be something I'd have an interest is seeing how it turned out.
