Okay, upvoted because there are enough things here I like to counteract the things I'm ehhh on. First, why is the Foundation bothering to spend time and effort extensively training these people and equipping them to make the trip? Is it just kindness, keeping them from dying and possibly breaching security? Second, it's hard for me to believe that the SCP is an irresistable compulsion that you can temporarily talk someone out of. It's like postponable insanity; you have an incurable disease that forces you to carry out a series of behaviors, unless someone offers to teach you scuba diving. Third, the MTF should have been the SCPS Pequod and you know it.

I'd change "If an individual listens to SCP-1409 for a certain period of time" to something a bit more specific. Something like "If an individual listens to the full duration of SCP-1409".

Some typos in this, and it made me think of the SCP shoes that make people march into the ocean.

That said, I like two things: that point Alpha is described, as well as what is found there (nothing), and that it's actually the theoretical whale (which you may want to designate SCP-1409-1) that's the SCP and they're still looking for it. I was thinking precisely that as I started reading.

The writing's good, but the concept doesn't really grab me.

So they haven't tried exposing the SCP to a musician capable of writing sheet music?

Upvoted. I like the premise, and I like what you did with it.

One quibble, the very last sentence doesn't sound right, "legislative" is defintely not the right word. How about this instead? "The theoretical humpback whale which created SCP-1409 is provisionally designated SCP-1409-A."

A minor complaint here: Megaptera Novaeangliae should be Megaptera novaeangliae as per convention. (The species name is always lowercase.)

Was this a shoe before? Either way. I like the concept.
