SCP Foundation

Okay…honestly the only big problems with the x-ray scanner that thinks its a person are 1) your data expungeds should just be spelled out, since right now they aren't interesting, and 2) Nothing in the object indicates why the heck it's 100km below ground in a room with 27 meter thick concrete walls. That would be….so expensive.

Revamp of a SCP I almost posted last night. It was originally a thermonuclear weapon, then I was directed to SCP-1286, and it was hard to deny the articles were way too similar, even though the only real similarity was the idea of a talking nuke…

Removing the bomb not only removed 90% of the overlap with SCP-1286, but helped ratchet up the weirdness factor.

I would definitely change the containment procedures. The deepest borehole ever drilled was only 12km deep, and took a huge amount of time and effort to dig. And the temperature down there would be in excess of 100 degrees Centigrade, so a massive amount of cooling would be required too.

A bunker 10km underground for a talking airport x-ray scanner? A bit excessive, I think.

I've only seen the revision from 8 minutes ago, but I like it. I have to agree with sanrewswann, a bomb doesn't work.

The containment method seems a bit out-of-character for the Foundation, but someone might be being more cautious than usual.

Where the "exploratory surgery" log? e.g., "When the year panel was removed [REDACTED]" or "Since we have no effective anesthetic for SCP-1966, there will be no experimental disassembly, partial or full. The levels of radiation released were enough to interrupt the connection with our probe, even using a shielded wired connection."

Everything else that's been said above, plus:

• the unnecessary capitalization of 'psychologist'
• a reference to an Addendum 1 that isn't designated as such
• It is [MEASUREMENTS] sounds off
• 'sentient consciousness' is a tautology

And unfortunately, it is still very similar to SCP-1286, the atomic bomb is not what makes them similar.

I think the creepiest thing about this, and the one with the most potential to the foundation, is the imprinting process.

The radiation feels like it tacked on, but the imprinting would make it a fine SCP - even as a Safe or Euclid class object.

What part of SCP-1966 houses the personality? Has anyone tried to find out? What happens if someone tries to operate the scanner?
This is the Foundation, you know they've tried to scan people in it.

I know the radiation was a leftover of when this was a nuke, but you really need to mention earlier that it's radioactive. As it is right now, unless I'm missing something the earliest mention of radiation is 4 paragraphs into the description, when it says that its radiation output spikes when it's agitated.

I think you might want to change the picture, it looks computer generated, Im sure you can find a good picture on the internet.

Keeping the massive radiation and the containment procedures that necessitates after changing it over from a nuclear bomb seems like a gratuitous holdover.

It's a machine traditionally used to scan people and you've eliminated any possibility of intersting anomalous behavior related to that function. I suggest greatly reducing the danger and containment, and upping the weirdness. Withholding vote for now.
