As much as I like to see more authors writing for Herman Fuller, I'm afraid I can't bring myself to upvote this.
I prefer to characterize Fuller as affably evil and comically deranged. Here, he just seems like a cranky old businessman.
I also don't like how powerless he's portrayed here. He's easily humiliated and foiled, his underlings not giving a second thought to the repercussions of betraying him.
Contrast that to how I portray him in There Are No Strings On Me. Lolly's never even met him before, and yet is instantly terrified for her life. In his pursuit of a reality-bending Clown, he takes out two guards and a Food Court Judge, catches said Clown, survives an attack by another more powerful Clown, and even though they have him outnumbered Manny is still too scared to engage him.
There are other examples, but Dread & Circuses Herman Fuller is not someone to fuck with. He has at least low-level reality-bending abilities and extensive thaumaturgical knowledge he can draw on in a pinch.
Other than that, I feel the skips are a tad random and I'm not a huge fan of how the tale's a blatant rip off of King Kong or of Sullivan's sudden change of heart.
