SCP Foundation

As of today, there are more than 3,500 positively rated articles (3,531 in total, about 25-26 in the negatives). This means we're officially halfway through our 4th list.

Since this list was opened only ten months ago, I think the progress is pretty amazing. The 72 Hour Jam contest definitely filled up several slots quite fast and is probably responsible for us getting here a little ahead of schedule.

I would have predicted that the growth would have started to level off before now. I wonder where it will finally start to level off. 1000 articles a year?

We are probably already past the point where it's especially realistic to expect to be able to read everything here.

God I'm fucking old.

I don't really make it a point to read stuff unless someone asks me to, but this is still pretty wild. I can only hope the speed of the quantity eventually doesn't runover into the quality - the cache of voters being so overwhelmed by the material they're spread thin enough to have shit slip through. Of course, from the speed of deletions that still seems to be a long way off.

It's great to see this community and its content growing.

Goodness, the day I wake up to see the Series V contest is going to be a great day. It's a while away, but it will come eventually.

….aaand one month later, we're at 3,623 positively rated mainlist SCPs. That means we produced roughly 120 mainlist SCPs in a month.

I think we can attribute this growth to two main factors: new writers coming to the site as a result of a recent surge in popularity, and old writers sticking around after the 72 Hour Jam Contest (which produced an astonishing 50 surviving SCPs, hugely inflating Series IV growth in February - by comparison, the Short Works Contest produced 35 surviving SCPs).

If we even keep up a fraction of our current growth, we'll hit Series V well before 2019 rolls around.
