It's more based on how we seek, intentionally or not, self-destruction.
Yeah, I'm having a hard time seeing this as an overarching truth or common view beyond maybe emo genre music lyrics.
That impulse, to seek and desire a change in our lives, is within everyone at a biological level.
Change can be good, though. Plenty of people would love to change for the better. Plenty of people do change for the better.
For example: Take a regular housewife who has a good family.
These seem to be niche cases that again, while not unheard of, are not the norm so far as I know of.
Or better yet, take a look at how people treat the environment:
This ignores the people around the world who strive to live a sustainable, ecologically-friendly lifestyle.
What I'm trying to say, is that whatever this SCP will be, is intentionally similar and/or evocative of humanity’s inability to stop the pollution
…and I'm saying that this negative perspective kind of comes off as pessimistic and defeatist, and you may have trouble convincing the audience that all of humanity is the scum of the earth.
Granted, you can still attempt to incorporate that view, but it may run the risk of coming off as overdramatic and/or preachy. Furthermore, I'm not entirely certain how readers would be expected to enjoy an article that focuses on how much humanity has inherently failed and will irrevocably continue to fail.
