It's a goddamn black box, or rather, a rectangle. With circles on it. Red circles. My idea involves the 178 entities, or at least some things like them.
Basically, you touch the box, you suffer lacerations. You're then "bonded" to it, and gain control of 178-like entities, which will continually manifest and relocate in a radius around you. These can't move into your direct vision; they're forced to remain in your peripheral vision. If you try to look at one, all of them are forced to relocate at incredible speed (may cause damage to environment.) You can command them to do stuff, verbally or visually, as long as it's a command. I'm not sure about limits yet.
If you've committed a crime (specifics are a WIP for the actual article), then the entities will decide to rip you apart, in classic 178 fashion, but even more brutally. Not lacerations, just entire parts of your body being scraped away.
Edit: From what I’ve read so far, there seems to be two angles I can do this from; a humorous aspect, focusing on the dangers that the relocating entities pose, or a darker tone, focusing on the “judge” and “executioner” aspect. I’d still like a wider range of opinions, though.
