The "knowledge for a cost" trope is fairly common, and has been done across multiple genres, not just sci-fi or horror.

I personally don't recommend this, unless you can either a. present the "truth" about religion in a way that doesn't come off as tactless or offensive to readers who hold religious beliefs or b. develop some new, compelling content for a GoI that doesn't borrow too heavily from existing works. Given that we have GoI format pages on the site that are basically excerpts from their important works (examples: http://www.scp-wiki.net/the-parables-of-pseudo-nadox and http://www.scp-wiki.net/v2101a01 ), this may be difficult.

What kind of religion are you going to create?

What kind of new GoI are you going to create? (this is the solidly more difficult option. It can be pretty hard to get a new GoI established on the site, given that we've already got a lot of them and people will be likely to draw comparisons to existing GoIs if yours doesn't present new enough material)
