SCP Foundation

I'd like my SCP to be one of the sets of firefighter's clothing the firefighters shed after being exposed to a ridiculous amount of radiation. The room these suits still lie in are apparently one of the most radioactive spots in Chernobyl.

I have an image I threw together of my SCP but I'm not sure how to upload a picture. I see the "insert image" button but I'd have to make a link or something, lol I'm just unsure and I don't want to risk doing something that breaks the rules or something.

Anyway, the SCP will wear the old suit but oddly enough its body will often be deformed in random areas. The legs will sometimes be backwards, sometimes the fingers will be deformed, leading researchers to believe this is not the "spirit" of the man who wore the suit, but an unknown entity that uses the suit as a medium to walk around and appear human-like. Maybe the immense pain and suffering of the situation lured or created the entity or something (although that wouldn't be in the SCP document because I couldn't imagine how they'd figure out its origin)

Maybe it can speak? I was thinking other than conventional means, it would emit radiation, that is picked up by a geiger counter, and those geiger counter beeps would correspond to a message in morse code?

I was thinking maybe the room which contains the SCP has control rods, commonly used in nuclear reactors, used to keep the radiation controlled? Maybe a certain number of control rods must be in with the SCP to control the crazy amount of radiation the SCP emits? If all rods are gone maybe the creature gains a bunch of power and can weaponize its radiation and melt holes through its door and escape?

I was even thinking maybe to people it appears as a pile of clothing, and when people are away it slowly reforms into a humanoid shape and begins walking around?
Maybe to cope with the amount of radiation being emitted the room has a cooling mechanism of some kind and it in remote Siberia?

I would think doors would be manually locked and computers/any advanced electrical equipment would have to be far from the SCP's containment cell, because of radiation frying electronics and all of that.

Maybe he's still being held in Chernobyl, where they couldn't move him without risk of being fried by radiation from him? Maybe the reason they don't want people inside of Chernobyl isn't just because of radiation, but this creature? Maybe the very strict security of Chernobyl is a cover up that's secretly there to better contain the SCP?

I was thinking it would have a distinct sound, breathing through a respirator. A spooky breathing though, maybe slow and drawn out. I wouldn't imagine its run or walk fast, just kind of stumble its way around.

So firstly, you'll have some stiff competition to make this stand out enough that people don't say one of the following:

"Oh, it's like those things in Doctor Who/Fallout/S.T.A.L.K.E.R./Metro 2033"

To be honest I like your description enough that I'm willing to ignore the similarities to things in those games/media (also, let's be frank, nothing's original even when you try to make it original - I got accused of plagiarism by a publisher just last week because of a particular adjective I used).

Things I definitely like:

• Speaking through the Gieger Counter. That's just great, honestly. Morse Code through controlled emission of radiation. Problem is figuring out what this entity wants to say.
• Containment requiring control rods - not necessarily to stop it escaping, but just simply for health reasons. It's producing a lot of radiation. Hell, with some creative engineering design they could actually use this SCP to produce clean nuclear energy for other sites.
• The possibly inhuman inhabitant with occasional strange deformities. Implies to me it's something trying to be human, or an amalgam of things that maybe were human.
• A containment facility in Chernobyl (or more accurately Pripryat) to house it due to the sheer difficulty in moving something like this.

Things I don't like so much:

• The control rods as a method of containing its 'power'. I don't think SCPs need to always be hostile, but that is up to you, the author, in deciding what this anomaly actually is.
• Appearing as clothing around people and only taking shape when not directly observed. Unless the creature(s) inhabiting the suit(s) are inherently shy (or trying to lull people into a false sense of security) I don't think there's any need for this. You could have them coming and going, of course - non-corporeal entities possessing an item for locomotion and communication has been done before but it makes sense to me in this instance.
• Raspy respirator breathing. It's been done and is a bit cliché for things in hazard suits. Having worn the kit myself I can tell you you sound raspy enough just as a baseline normal human, so to me it doesn't instill fear and just makes me roll my eyes a little. Also, do the things inhabiting the suits really need to breathe, especially if their main form of communication is by Gieger-Morse?

But overall I do like the concepts at play here. I'd suggest coming up with a narrative as to what these things are, what do they want, why are they drawn to Chernobyl? You don't need to include this information in your final article but it should dictate the way you construct it. Also consider how the Foundation acquired it in the first place - especially if you're having a site for them built in Chernobyl or Siberia.
