SCP Foundation

This SCP would be a fish native to the Marianas trench, similar in appearance to a suckermouth catfish. The fish are predatory and behave in a way similar to piranhas, swimming around in schools and attacking larger prey. These fish are unique in that as opposed to consuming the meat of their prey, they consume the thoughts and memories of their prey. In fact, these fish can consume information from any object, as long as they can attach their mouth to it.

The Foundation discovers them after they start finding animals at the bottom of the trench, with no bite marks or any apparent signs of injury/illness. After discovering the fish, the Foundation tries to take some up to the surface, but they die from the difference in pressure. The Foundation sets up a station in the trench to monitor the species and run some experiments. After some testing, they discover that through the No-hiding theorem that they can actually read the information an instance has consumed after it dies. The foundation starts to read the memories/information consumed by each individual fish and begins to log them.

By "information" I assume you are only referring to knowledge? There is always the kind of information that can't escape stellar black holes.

I gotta say… It seems to me that a fish which consumes the knowledge/memories/thoughts of sapient creatures would not find much sustenance in a deep sea environment. What's down there but just other fish/deep-sea creatures? What memories or information could they even possibly have that would be interesting (to the Foundation in-universe, or to your story's readers)? I like ocean-related stuff, but I feel like if you intend to follow through on this idea you should consider changing what type of animal it is or where it's habitat would be.

Okay here's an idea on how to implement this SCP. So you want to have it exist in the Mariana Trench? The Sea Pressure is kind of working against you there, since it's not really much of a threat, being so far below human reach, that it doesn't really need to be contained. Instead this Knowledge Eater, needs to start adapting to living at lower pressure levels, each generation getting closer and closer to escaping the Trench.

Don't make the fish an Octopus, fun as they are, I've personally seen the concept of intelligent Cephalopod's been done in two unique ways. As for what kind of fish? How about a unique breed of Angler Fish? The light on its head, lulls intelligent creatures closer or suppresses the natural flight and fight responses. But its only effective at certain ranges, meaning if you maintain a distance or block off, the light from your own sight, you'll be fine. Once it lulls you into a stupor, it proceeds to feed on your intelligence, eating memories and thoughts etc. Before proceeding to kill and consume the victim's body.

The idea of information-consuming fish puts me in mind of SCP-3000, which is a giant eel that destroys information (or at least sentience) and produces the raw materials for amnestics.

There's some distinct possibilities here that these fish may have evolved/adapted/been created to deal with/counter/live symbiotically with SCP-3000.
