Wrapped up a draft of an idea I had and didn't get very good feedback, nor any constructive criticism.
The premise is, an old rotary telephone and joined pocket notebook are recovered from a house. When the phone is connected to a service line and a power source, it will have a chance to ring. A man will appear on the other end and describe a crime scene as a distant observer. Whether it's finding a body in the woods, or seeing a person being assaulted. He won't listen to reason, and he'll give three numbers at the end of the call. These numbers correspond to the book, which is full of handwritten geographical coordinates, half of them already crossed off. The exact crime described will take place about two to three days later at that coordinate.
I've got the sandbox link if anyone is interested.
