Maybe put the scientific name in footnotes since binturong seems to be the colloquial name? Up to you, I've seen it reversed or, just as you've done, left it at just the scientific name.

Lists should all be in lower case. Also, I think you could remove the second part of that sentence entirely (after the comma). The Foundation would more likely document the anomalous descriptions of your SCP rather than what makes it just like any other binturong.
This is just what I found with a quick look through. Maybe I'm biased towards SCP related to animals but I really like the concept! It's like a not-red red panda! Hope you continue drafting it.
