So I have two ideas for SCPs that have been on my mind lately and I want to know which of these are better and how can I improve them.
Okay I'll give my own thoughts on both ideas.
1. Anomalous music isn't something new, I recall one or two anomalous songs that do horrible things to people. The trick would be to give a reason for it existing and how it might have been created. A narrative to accompany the SCP. Ultimately I'm personally not too excited about the idea, make keep it on the backburner, until you have a more concrete idea of what you want to make?
2. How do you plan to portray this SCP? Is it going to actually be a godlike entity? Similar to SCP-343 or more primal like SCP-2845? I'd ask why not just make it a big anomalous spider, rather than something out of Silent Hill? Maybe you could go for a sad tale, similar to Pinwhell in Dark Souls, to explain why it's made up of all these limbs? Are you basing this SCP on Anansi's portrayal in other media, like American Gods? These should be the first questions you ask yourself, and iron out before writing up your SCP. Then you can start asking more detailed questions.
Hope this helps.
I've decided to go with the Anansi route, since no one has really done much of African Gods yet.
Here's the rundown on what it is:
- It can reincarnate itself in the next arachnid closest to itself like SCP-027
- As soon as it transfers to another spider, it will increase 3-5 times in length and weight of the species of spider that it is inhabiting. So you can just imagine what would happen if it suddenly became a Tarantula or a Wolf spider.
- As soon as it reaches 3-5 times it's original size, it will call upon any and all spiders closest to it to create a giant spider out of other materials. It doesn't matter if it's organic or inorganic, depending on the material, it will give all spiders the necessary biological "upgrades" needed to cut and tear the material apart, like 1048
- Once they finish their giant spider (which is like, the size of a single bedframe for one person), The spiders will then strategically attempt to free their god and place him in the giant spider machination as the head.
- Once that finishes, I suppose that they do the same thing over again, but with Anansi free, they can repeat this process of building bigger spiders over and over until it becomes too big for mankind to deal with it.
- The bigger the giant spider, the larger the influence Anansi has on spiders.
- Being a trickster god, I don't know if I should let him have his own voice and have it be cognitohazardous so that people can succumb to him.
So far, this is all I have now. If I'm going to make dialog for him, it has to be really, really good. Since he's a trickster god and all that.
I dunno about the continual growth. I mean it's not unworkable. But it also feels like its trying to be a XK(I think that's right) end of the world/universe scenario which doesn't really fit with the idea of a trickster god.
Cause if it just keeps growing and kills everyone, then who would it have left to trick? I'd recommend Putting a size cap and methods to reduce its size when needed. African Gods are fine to explore, just try n figure out a tale that would embody a trickster, like it almost getting out or using its wiles to avoid containment.
