Alright, let's take a look at what we've got here…
Line by line:
Ten (10) specimens of
While in series I, people often used the number (#) format for just about everything, it's very frowned upon to do that now. In the real world, this format is only used for very precise things, like drug prescriptions or monetary transactions. "Ten" should work just fine.
outside of standard plant care (watering, pest control, etc).
That seems a little off to me — wouldn't different plants require different levels of care? Maybe I'd just reference a manual or say "standard [insert descriptive word here/plant species] plant care."
Testing indicates that this is not a compulsive effect, rather, the experience of the positive memories lifts the subject’s mood.
I'm having a ton of trouble figuring out how the heckeroni one would test for that.
Overall: The writing here is overall competent, and I'm not seeing any series issues with tone, grammar, or organization. However, I don't feel like the general storyline/concept works well for me. Unless I'm missing something, it's thyme plant which acts to bring back happy memories in small amounts (when diluted with other food) but kills you in large amounts. That's… really all there is to it. I'm not seeing a larger story, any real emotional significance to attach myself to.
Food with sentimental attachments to it has been done before, and I would argue more effectively. Things that are good until they're bad have also been done before, countless times. What differentiates this from any amount of similar articles?
I would suggest trying to answer the following questions:
- Why does this exist? Where did it come from?
- Did it ever hold greater significance than being an SCP?
- Have there been any incidents relating to it? Who had used it in the past?
You can also head over to Ideas and Brainstorming and ask what direction people would like to see with this.
