NB: My idea of "Red Death" in this is something that can convert the Mechanical to Biological; a weapon to destroy MEKHANE's forges.
While the Red Death is sometimes interpreted as SCP-610, this particular interpretation can work.
Final procedures involve continually trying to reboost it; that fails and re-entry is scheduled around December 2019, and so this is basically a time bomb of Red Death.
From how I see it, it is basically an orbital biological weapon that would convert all sorts of machines on Earth into flesh things.
If this is supposed to be an SCP article, I suppose you would be starting from the space station. However, I am not sure on the ending. It feels quite similar to most Sarkic SCPs that end on the 'impeding end of the world' note. I think a change of pace can help your idea shine out from the lot. Perhaps the space station disintegrated completely upon re-entry (with the Red Death burnt into non-existence in the heat)? Perhaps the Foundation can reassure themselves that the Red Death was burnt away on re-entry, but it might or might not have descended to Earth somehow?
Ergo, I think you ought to consider what kind of traits should this strain of Red Death should have for purpose of your article.
