I'm not sure. Novote here.
Addendum 02: List of Mass-Produced SCP-578-1 Items Recovered From MC&D
I don't see how this adds anything to the article.
Again, I still see the concept "turn blood into blood opals! Har har so clever" to be not creative or interesting itself. MC&D tack on also doesn't impress me. So meh. -1
EDIT: Some more nit picks.
crystallization of the blood into a solid
Crystallization kind of implies it's being turned into a solid.
Living the dream, or dreaming the life?
I have fixed the redundancy you pointed out, however I'm reluctant to remove the list. As I wrote it I intended for it to create a sense of horror as it is more plainly shown that people would have interacted with 578-1 on a daily basis. Touched it, drank from it, eaten off it, and done some other things with it that implied. I probably failed to really get that across, but it was still the intent.
For my taste, the second addendum seems more humerous than horrific. I think the "personal massager" is what made it feel like you were slipping in a joke.
The horror of common usage is definitely a worthwhile aspect to emphasize, I just don't think that addendum is the way to do it.
I like the idea behind it, but it doesn't really flow well for me. Sentence structure can be a bit jarring, and the grouping of ideas isn't ideal. Reluctant downvote — no ill will, but I genuinely disliked reading this article.
if your reading this your gay
You've got a pretty good idea here, and you're off to a decent start, but your execution is lacking.
No vote from me.
I actually really like this concept. And I like the list of items. I kind of got more of a "people are ordering up other people's blood as dinner plates and jewelry oh god" kind of horror/revulsion going on. For me, I think, the addition of the list makes the article a lot stronger.
I have to agree that the concept is solid, but the execution is slightly lackluster. I recommend deleting this before it's officially deleted and polishing it for a little while more.
The thing that got me (positively) was that it sort of reminded me of the idea of blood diamonds. You know, precious gems mined in a war zone and sold to finance the combat, but people keep buying them anyone because it's pretty and sparkling and every kiss begins with kay! This is just a little more literal, and some people might think that's a failing, but I don't think so. Because the true horror of this SCP isn't that there's a liquid that turns blood into crystal, although that's pretty horrifying, it's that people keep buying the crystals anyway. And that's why I think the MCD connection isn't tacked on, but perfectly appropriate.
Upvoted for now, hopefully you can polish out any issues and turn this around, because the concept really deserves it!
It's not, but I do suppose it looks like one. I've changed it now since I did finally manage to find a picture of a red crystal that wasn't carved into a skull or a heart.
My advice.
• Add a test log, or a recording from MC&D of their creation process, sort of like what was done in SCP-604. Also, how is MC&D getting people to "bleed." They don't have class-d. Random kidnapping?
• Use a different picture. I'm pretty sure a Google search can find some odd gem as opposed to a bowling ball.
Even as-is, I like the idea and upvoted.
